Remembering the first ascent on Everest Heros.

29th May 1953, the first time Edmund Hillary & Tenjing Norgay climbed the Everest (8848 meters). Both of them were present at Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling, West Bengal, India on 1st October 1980.  This was the occasion of Silver Jubilee celebration of HMI. Peter Hillary, son of Edmund Hillary was also there. By then a joint expedition Ocean to Sky of Indo New Zeland was organised in which Edmund & Peter Hillary, HC Sarin, the Secretary of Indian Mountaineering Foundation, Nawang Gombu & others  were the member of this team.

This time they were thinking what next expedition to be planned. There were several discussions on various aspect of mountaineering, specially on Indian Himalayas.

The ascent on Everest the book I have received from one of my well wisher. Now no body look such book. The first successful expedition carried Nepali coins for the payment to porters. Now on line or plastic card are main mode of payment.
